ScholarMap started the way most good consultancies do — with someone who had been through the Italian process personally, been refused once, worked out precisely why, and started answering questions for friends.

What became obvious quickly was that the hard part is not admission. Italian public universities are comparatively open, and a decent student with a clean transcript will get an offer. The hard part is the money and the paperwork around it: the ISEE parificato that decides your tuition band, the regional DSU call that closes while you are still waiting on a visa, and the Type-D file that has to tell one consistent story from first page to last.

So that is what we built the practice around. We do the admissions work because it is the entry point, but the reason students recommend us is the funding and the visa — the two stages where a mistake costs a year.

We are still deliberately small. Every student gets a named counsellor who reads their actual transcript. When we grow past what that allows, we hire rather than stack more files on the same desk.
